Healthy Crumble

We have done an amazing crumble before on this blog, around this time of year.  It is just a little bit unhealthy for you.  Although, if you are having a cheat day or just want something a little sweeter swing on over here.

We created this recipe as we have been trying to cut out an refined sugar out of our diet, as it is not necessary and your body will thank you later…We do believe though if you are craving something have it, but maybe just have a square of that chocolate bar not the whole bar!

This crumble is all made with natural, wholesome ingredients using coconut oil instead of butter and coconut sugar instead of brown sugar.  Personally we actually prefer this one! The sweetness the maple syrup gives really balances the fruit.  So, give this a try you might actually like being healthy!

  • 3 tbsp coconut oil
  • 2 tbsp coconut sugar
  • 1 tsp maple syrup
  • 2 peaches
  • 500g blackberries

Fruity Sauce

  • 1 tsp maple syrup

Oat top

  • 75g butter, melted / Coconut oil to make this recipe fully vegan
  • 75g rolled oats
  • 50g caster sugar
  • 200g plain flour
  • 50g milled flaxseeds
  • 2 tbsp coconut sugar

  1. Preheat the oven to 170C.
  2. Melt the Coconut oil in a pan on low.
  3. Meanwhile, wash the freshly picked blackberries and roughly chop up the peaches.
  4. Add the coconut sugar and maple syrup to the coconut oil and bring the heat to medium.
  5. Add the peaches and cook for few minutes stir occasionally.
  6. Now add the blackberries and cook for a further minute.
  7. Using a ladle spoon out excess juice should be about 2 ladles.  Set this aside in a bowl.
  8. Mix together the oat mixture in a medium bowl.
  9. Add the fruit to a deep dish and top with the oat mixture.
  10. Cook fro 45 minutes.
  11. Meanwhile, mix the cornflour and water together in a sauce pan.
  12. Add the the leftover juice and maple syrup to the saucepan and cook on medium until thickens.
  13. Once thick, set aside to cool.

Serving Suggestion…We love adding a sprinkle of vanilla powder!
